A few useful terms
Generative AI and large language models
Tools that generate responses from patterns learned during training. A confident response can still contain errors or unsupported claims.
MeSH and search strategy
MeSH is the controlled vocabulary used to index articles in MEDLINE. A search strategy combines concepts and synonyms using operators such as AND and OR; not every recent or relevant record is indexed.
Comparator and primary outcome
The comparator is what the intervention is compared with. The primary outcome is the main measure specified before the analysis, including precisely how and when it is measured.
Percentage points
The arithmetic difference between two percentages: an increase from 40% to 50% is 10 percentage points. It is distinct from the relative percentage increase.
Pseudonymisation
Replacing direct identifiers with codes reduces exposure but does not necessarily make information anonymous. Additional information may allow someone to identify a person.
